Freedom Concert

Last week we took a little trip to San Diego for Hannity's freedom concert. The concert was great. Shaking Olie's hand and enjoying the eye candy of Ann Coulter...

Anyway, the most enjoyable part of the trip was meeting the attendee's. I assumed I'd be a strange duck just for coming from Denve. However, the first people I met were from Vancover Washingeon, Tulsa OK, St. George Utah and Grand Junction CO. I suddenly realized that we were all there for more than the music. We just wanted to rub elbows with people that thought like we did!

An Hour with Hugh

Last evening 300 plus KNUS listeners had the privilage of an hour with Hugh. Over the last few years KNUS has risen from a little radio station with a weak signal and no listeners to a radio station with a weak signal and lots of listeners. Their success is in part attributable to an association with Hugh as his recognition has grown.

I however, have a problem with Hugh. He thinks way to fast for my mind. In the first 35 minutes he must have traversed 60 random but somehow associated topics each with enough new fodder that I needed 3 more minutes to absorb. I left exhausted!!

Next week we're off to Hannity and North's Freedom concert. I was hoping Hugh would find his way on stage that night too as the gig is in his Southern California stomping ground.

A Liberal Definition

I enjoyed Mark Belling filling in for Rush today as he discussed Liberalism endorsing the most ridiculous of causes and positions. As the name of my Townhall blog, Liberal Logic ... an Oxymoron implies, I would suggest that the flaw is not in the inability of a Liberal to debate an issue but rather the substance of Liberal positions.

I find that the Liberal position is the most simplistic, obvious, superficial, emotional and wrong answer to an issue viewed from a static perspective.

In contrast when an issue is considered in depth and secondary, tertiary and quaduciary implications of a solution are viewed from a dynamic perspective, the Conservative position is always the result.

This concept also explains many things about which I’ve heard much head scratching such as:

1)      Why Conservatives have many answers but a singular direction while Liberals speak from the same predictable failed laundry list.

2)      Why Talk Radio is Conservative and successful by discussing the many pros and cons while Liberal attempts at preaching their dogma is a commercial failure.

3)      Why the Education establishment is Liberal because their mind set is to “Profess” a set of absolutes instead of exploring new logical conclusions.

4)      Why abortion is a Liberal sacrament because it solves the mother’s immediate problem but doesn't consider what the kid might think, potential emotional problems for the mother, the sanctity of life or religious thought.

5)      Why the consequential aspects of tax reduction are beyond the comprehension of a Liberal. That would require a reach beyond the simplistic.

6)      Why Liberalism is a religion comprised of a predigested dogma that one can sign onto without the need and effort of thought.

Liberal Logic is an Oxymoron.

NYT Circ and SEC filings

Professor Bainbridge.com in "NYT's Keller, Circulation, and Securities Law" delves into how much circulation drop by the New York Treason would require filing of SEC information.  Hugh Hewitt also jumps on this topic in More on the Ongoing Collapse of the Los Angeles Times where he takes a stab at some of the nuances of ABC circulation accounting. Unfortunately both great bloggers and legal scholars blew it on this one.

The concept that both miss is that circulation revenue typically accounts for less than 10% of dead tree media revenue. The mother lode is from advertising. While advertising revenue is impacted by changes in circulation there is a delay factor of 6  to 24 months  between circ changes and ad revenue changes.  Some advertisers will adjust budgets with the next ABC audit and some will let things play out over a longer period.

New York Treason ... arrogance to a new height

Historically, the New York Treason has published half the story, led with headlines that sold a conclusion contrary to the story and neglected to acknowledge their own stories that reached an alternative conclusion under a previous administration.

With my kids that consisted of lie by ommission that earned them time in "Time Out"

In the recent past, the New York Treason has progressed to errors of commision for this the penalty must be more than a trip to time out.  Hugh today raises the question
Did the Times Two Assist Terrorists in Eluding Capture?

With each day it seems more likely that the acts of the New York Treason are more than theoretically to the detriment of our country. Charges, hearings both personal and corporate should be brought.

Punish the New York Treason

Open Letter to the White House:

For God's sake and the sake of my Son the Marine and every US citizen it is time to lower the boom on the New York Treason.

Turn Justice loose on the creeps.  What are they going to do...... print a bad story on the White House?.... Wow that would be a first.

Get with the program.

Liberal logic and Iraq war mortality.

As Leftists go, those native to the Peoples Republic of Boulder are well left of even Michael Moore or Ted Kennedy.  In fact the infamous Ward Churchill is conservative by local standards.

The City Fathers can’t figure out why the US still has soldiers in Iraq because they passed a resolution to bring them home. The local University even had a plan in place under its previous President to abolish all intercollegiate sports and replace them with club sports. Take your bike to work day is every day and the streets are populated with nearly as many bikes per capita as Beijing.

Nowhere is the counter of military losses in Iraq more a centerpiece of whining.

Every year the most faithful from the Republic answer the call to climb on their bikes and soak in nature, gravel and bugs in a ride sponsored by left of the New York Times, Denver Post across the Rocky Mountain half of the state of Colorado.

These last two seemingly disconnected thoughts once again confirm that Liberal Logic is an Oxymoron. You see liberals only see the world from the most obvious, superficial and wrong perspective.

Reach beyond the cold number of 2,500 we have lost in Iraq/Afghanistan and put it in perspective. In 40 months with 150,000 soldiers on the ground the mortality rate has been 492 per 100,000 per year.  While this compares favorably to the 1,162 per 100,000 mortality rate for a 60 year old like myself it remains higher than for 25 year olds state side.

Now lets look at the bike ride. In 21 years with 2,000 riders each year riding 5 days each year 210,000 biking days were accumulated.  Extrapolate the 3 fatalities on the ride over this period and you have a mortality rate of 520 per 100,000 per year.

The obvious irony is that many of the anti-war fanatics from the Republic participate themselves in activities that are more hazardous than the hero’s bringing freedom to Iraqis.

Leftists everywhere deny failure.

I follow a dozen "Kerry-Edwards"  bumper stickers down  the I-25  autobahn  every day. ...  Dumb Libs that still rationalize that their horse actually won. Heck, some are still looking for pregnant chads in Florida.

Now comes their Mexican brothers in denial that the vote is over, counted and again the left lost. Taking a cue from the left North of the border they too whine, appeal and will cry fraud for years.

KISS ... Secure ID

When I had moles in my yard I applied insect killer to remove the food supply that attracted them. The moles moved to my neighbors yard!

Likewise, key in solution of the illegal immigration problem is removing the imputus for crossing the border improperly. That takes us to the need for Secure ID for every US employee.

All proposals that I have seen to date describe a complicated system that would take years to implement.

The bottom line is that Visa/Master Card has the hardware and software in place today to execute secure transactions today and their services are already in use by most employers. With the framework already in place, with minor software modifications, Visa/MasterCard should be able to provide secure ID services immediately for little cost on an outsourced basis.

I would propose:
1) Add photo ID to card.
2) Employee would present ID card and Social Security card
3) Employer would scan card and key in Social Security number as it appears on SS Card.
4) Visa/Master Card woud confirm with authorization with an authorization number, just like in a cash transaction.
5) Employer woud photocopy card, SS card and authorization slip for his file.
6) Honest Employer mistake (winky, winky) excuse would be eliminated.

With the number of credit card offers I receive in the mail daily, they should be able to accomodate all new hires within weeks and all existing employees within months.

KISS and get the job done!

Keller & Kim Jong Il ...Twins

New Media has missed the arrogant similarity between actions of New York Treason's Keller and North Korea's Kim Jong Il:

1) Both lack respect for the office of the President of the United States.

2) Both place their own self interest above the welfare of others.

3) Both are intent on destruction of their own environment.

4) Both have a self image of being GOD.

5) Both will do anything for attention.

6) Both are arrogant idiots.

KISS ... Immigration reform

Solving the illegal immigration problem requires a complex multi-step approach.  If you have a water main break, you first turn off the water then figure out how to best clean up the mess. Same with illegal immigration.

  1. Stop the flow of illegal immigrants.
    1. Increase security at the border.

                                                    i.     Actually fill open border patrol positions.

ii.     Companies of Marines wait at Pendleton for additional training for weeks. Send them to locations along the border for additional desert training/ support for border patrol. Nominal cost.

iii.     It is an invasion…. Treat it as such.

    1. Apply severe penalties for the Coytes and organizations that facilitate the transportation of illegal immigrants.
    2. Elevate “being in” the US illegally to felony status.
    3. Secure ID for employment to reduce the cheap labor attraction for employers.

                                                    i.     Use hardware already in place in most businesses for secure Visa/Master Card functions in conjunction with a Social Security card. Could be functional in days with a contract with current vendors.

    1. Untie the hands of state governments

                                                    i.     Allow state governments to penalize employers who hire illegals.

ii.     Eliminate and penalize “Sanctuary Cities” by any name.

    1. Provide Border Patrol the tools, manpower and financial support to do their job.
    2. Physical or electronic fence as appropriate…. Needed but in reality an expensive long term tool.

  1.  Re-think the legal immigration requirements and processes.
    1. Revisit anchor baby status and its implications.

  1. Address illegal immigrants already here in a compassionate but fair way.
